Quote Cards

The back of each Movie Lines trivia card displays a movie quote and three categories of answers:

MOVIE - The movie from which the quote was stated (and year of release just for reference)

CHARACTER - The name of the character who said the line

ACTOR - The name of the actor who played that character in the movie

To the right of each answer are the points you can score for correctly stating that answer.

Example Movie Lines Trivia Game card showing quote and scoring categories.

Scoring

MOVIE:

The movie title is straightforward - it is always worth two points.

ACTOR:

The full name or last name of the actor is worth one point.

CHARACTER:

Scoring for the character is a bit more nuanced! Check it out:

If the character only has a single name listed (example: "Morpheus"), then the single answer scores two points. Shown on the card as 2.

If the character's name is divided into two parts separated by a plus sign ("+") on the card, teams can score one point for knowing either the character's title, first name, or nickname, and another one point for knowing the character's last name or alias. Shown on the card as 1 + 1.

Additional descriptors in the character category beyond the first and last name are shown within parentheses (for example, the character may have a military rank, alias, etc.). You don't need to know what's in parentheses to score the point, but you can use these as a substitute for the given name on either side of the plus sign to score the point.

Example: (Inspector) Harry (Dirty Harry) + Callahan [Points: 1+1]

  • For the answer "Harry Callahan," the team would score 2 points total (1 point for the first name "Harry" and 1 point for the last name "Callahan").
  • For the answer "Inspector Callahan," the team would score 2 points total (1 point for the title "Inspector" and 1 point for the last name "Callahan").
  • For the answer "Inspector Harry Callahan," the team would score 2 points total (1 point total for the title "Inspector" and first name "Harry," and 1 point for the last name "Callahan").
  • For the answer "Dirty Harry Callahan," the team would score 2 points total (1 point for the alias "Dirty Harry" and 1 point for the last name "Callahan").
  • For the answer "Dirty Harry," the team would score 1 point total (1 point for the alias "Dirty Harry").

OR you can play with the Competitive Rule card to score these as bonus points!

Competitive Rules

For serious trivia buffs craving an even tougher challenge, add in up to four Competitive Rule cards to up the stakes:

  • Movie Date - The release date is only revealed after correctly guessing the movie.
  • Official Answer - Only one answer can be provided as the "official" guess of each team.
  • Accuracy - Movie, Character, and Actor answers must be complete and exact.
  • Extra Points - After providing the correct character names, nicknames, titles, etc. can be guessed for extra half points.
